“Giving a man the joy of climbing a peak that he could not reach without us has always seemed to me to be a creative endeavour, a tangible achievement, and I derive the same pleasure from it as a craftsman does from doing a job he loves, or even an artist from producing a masterpiece.” - Lionel Terray.
For Jean-François, this quote perfectly sums up his commitment to his profession as an instructor.
Jean-François, originally from Lyon, discovered skiing thanks to his parents and group lessons at the ESF. To become an instructor, he joined the PAF, an association that allowed him to train intensively to pass the tests in exchange for working as a garden assistant at its partner ESFs.
An instructor since 2012, Jean-François teaches downhill skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and disabled skiing in French and English.
His favourite slope? Lac Bleu!
In his spare time, he enjoys reading. He is also a trainer in the operation of construction machinery and president of his sports events company, which offers activities such as laser tag and sledging in the valley.
